Release Notes 5.4.5
Published October 8, 2026
New features
- Running queries: REPEAT [<target>] EVERY <interval> [FOR <duration> | COUNT <iterations>] [TO <file> [AS CSV|JSON|TEXT]] runs the last query, a BEGIN ... END block of queries, an @script or a LIB RUN script again and again in the foreground until Ctrl+C, COUNT or FOR; durations are a whole number followed by s, m or h; only queries can be repeated; TO appends each iteration with its timestamp
- Exploring: DESC <table> ALPHA (also DESCR, DESCRIBE) lists the same columns sorted by name, ignoring case; without ALPHA the table order is unchanged, and any other text after the table name is now refused
- Export: DUMP ... AS H2, AS XLSX and AS ODS accept MODE APPEND (no KEY): the rows of any query, joins included, are added to an existing table or worksheet with the same columns, names and order; types are not compared, a mismatch writes nothing
- Export: the Connections Definition File ($CDF), or any connection opening the same database file, is refused as a DUMP, PULL or EXPORT destination
Problems solved
- Console: Ctrl+C pressed as a query is being sent is no longer missed, / <environment> reruns can be cancelled, and a Ctrl+C that stops a statement on BroadSQL's side keeps pending changes
- Console: Ctrl+C during a running query, script or REPEAT stops only that work and keeps BroadSQL open with the JLine console (it could close BroadSQL)
- Console: a TAB in pasted or indented SQL stays a TAB; TAB completes only a word being typed, lists the candidates after a space without inserting one, and never inserts a keyword such as ALL
